Texas is leading in the global fight against cancer, thanks to the pioneering strategies of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Since 2008, CPRIT has allocated over $3.3 billion to cancer research, prevention, and product development efforts. It has also attracted world-class researchers and companies, reinforcing Texas's stature in cancer research.
Unique to CPRIT is its emphasis on pediatric and adolescent cancer research, an area often sidelined in an adult-focused field. It has funded 225 projects focused on early intervention and targeted treatments for this group. Additionally, CPRIT has provided more than 9.04 million cancer prevention services to underserved communities. Pioneering research, strategic funding, and a commitment to neglected areas have placed Texas at the vanguard of global cancer combat.
