Cancer treatment is evolving, led by advancements in precision therapies, artificial intelligence (AI), and emerging immunotherapies. The rise of precision oncology, which tailors treatments to individual genetic profiles, has been significant, with half of oncology drugs since 1998 falling under this category, improving patient outcomes significantly. However, equitable access to these innovations, regardless of race or ethnicity, is crucial. Alarmingly, cancer mortality rates are increasing more among minorities than whites, and their participation in trials is low, indicating a need for change. But, encouragingly, AI and genomics are identifying new treatment targets and improving diagnosis precision. Other advancements include nanotechnology and drug repositioning, diversifying our anti-cancer strategies. As the fight against cancer progresses, ensuring access to advancements for everyone remains essential.
