Unmasking the Magento Menace: Solving Performance Issues Impacting Your Database Load

An issue arose with the Magento e-commerce platform after its upgrade to version 2.3. A frequent query, linked to the cache search term, created spikes in database CPU load, straining the search capabilities on both the client and admin ends. This was due to the search_query table, key to the search bar functionality, swelling with unique search terms, especially during high traffic. To combat this, steps include: eliminating the 'num_results > 0' condition, removing the DISTINCT operator, implementing batched search term insertions, limiting the growth of the search_query table, and further optimizing Elasticsearch. However, the focus must be on addressing the root issue – the growing search_query table and inefficient 'num_results > 0' condition. Though a challenge, this is also an opportunity to boost database performance, improve user experience, and raise e-commerce platform standards.
