Unveiling the Glitches: The Mystery of StopIteration Errors in Medical Research Data Extraction

The StopIteration error often hinders medical data extraction from Google Scholar, usually due to the exhaustion of the search_query iterator. This function fetches data for each researcher and when it runs out of items, it triggers the StopIteration error. This error often prevents access to any profiles after the first one. The scholarly package, a tool commonly used for data retrieval from Google Scholar, may not effectively handle this error as it doesn't reset the iterator after each use. To improve data extraction, one could introduce a default value of None to the next() function to prevent the error, or convert the search_query iterator into a list to ensure all data is printed. Addressing these bugs could improve the data retrieval process and contribute significantly to medical research.
